Inflow and infiltration issues are mostly a seasonal problem for most places of the country. But, here in Miami with our location in the southern tip of Florida, our water table is four feet deep and 80% of our sewer mains are under water all the time. Let’s review what infiltration and inflow is. Infiltration is defined as excess water that seeps or flows into old collection systems from surrounding soil causing them to sink or collapse. Inflow is additional water that can enter from above ground sources for instance, rain water.
